Case/Shaw Family Portrait

When I first contacted Jeannie and she mentioned having an abundance of land to photograph her family on, I was thrilled. Often times, finding a location (especially within Houston) is a struggle. Families of 8 are usually a struggle also. I had my work cut out for me.

When I pulled up to their residence, I had no doubt in my mind that the location was a perfect choice. Their home was cozy and gorgeous with an abundance of perfectly diffused light in their yard.

Once we had convinced Jeannie's husband to step away from the football game, I arranged the family casually and start clicking away, making sure to sweet talk Hudson (that little handsome devil!) into his big beautiful grin.

It's safe to say I overestimated the amount of work that would be required for this shoot! To say this family was easy going would be an gross understatement, they were FUN! They even invited me in afterwards for a glass of wine! It's safe to say I have the best job ever.

My "big gwarl"

She won't even let me call her a baby anymore. She's totally still a baby. TELL ME SHE'S A BABY STILL!

Our time together is exhausting. She, like always, needs all of my attention and all of my patience. I don't know what it is about lately, but I'm realizing (finally) that it's going to be gone soon. She's already starting to understand how much cooler than me she is.

So, I'll cope with it like anything else: I'll document it. I'll document her tiny features and her exquisite brain.

Here's a glimpse of our day!

Margot's Fresh 48

You may have seen my last post about the birth that I was lucky enough to be a part of. This sweet little baby girl, Margot was born the same day! I finished up the birth around noon, came home and slept for about 4 hours, and then got ready to head to the hospital and meet this sweet little girl!

Meeting another brand new life in one day was almost too much baby fever for me to handle! As cliche as it is, I made sure David and Moselle knew just how quickly this cuddly newborn stage will pass and ironically enough, I left the hospital feeling like I needed to try harder and enjoy this super fun (can you sense the sarcasm?) toddler stage my baby girl is passing through.

Congratulations, Moselle and David!
